Nothing to see here…move along now…just me talking about me

Welcome

Hello everyone and welcome to the home of my thoughts, ideas, photography and general  info. Though this is mainly a showcase for my photographic efforts, from time to time you may find some emotional little pieces of me floating here as well.

A Little About Me

By trade I’m and Aircraft Technician, having started my journey back when I was 15 helping my uncle (also and A&P) rebuild an experimental homebuilt plane that found itself caught in a windstorm, flipped upside down in a cornfield with a severely damaged fuselage and wing. After graduation from high school where I had shifted to vocational automotive (with physics and calculus to keep my brain stimulated) I enlisted in the USAF where my real adventure began.

After traveling the world for four years as crew chief I decided the military wasn’t for me, got out, and started my career working for some of the bottom of the barrel fly by night freight outfits, repair stations and the what not, but the travel has been amazing.

I have lived and worked in some great and interesting places. Tucson Arizona, Long Island New York (was there for Sept 11th 2001) Brussels Belgium, Vatrey France, Oostende Belgium, Frankfurt and Koln Germany, Milan Italy, Abu Dabi U.A.E., Lagos Nigeria, and so many other places that my Aviation Career has taken me.

I have been very privilaged.

DUDE ..ok enough about planes…What about the camera

Photography was never even a passing thought for almost the first 28 years of my life, nor anything artistic for that matter. I took a small class in Jr. High School, but it never snagged me. That was until one day at work the IT guy asked me if I was interested in a copy of Photoshop.

It really began with a copy of Photoshop 7, playing with images, warping, distorting, merging and blending my horrible 3MP images from my Sony Cybershot into something more interesting. I was hungry for more information which let me to the NAPP, Photoshop Radio (now Photoshop User TV) and Scott Kelby. I wanted to have better pictures and it wasn’t long before I realized that all the Photoshop in the world wasn’t going to create a masterpiece. I needed to be a better Photographer.

Thus the journey for more and more information began. Devouring books, blogs, and online journals of people like Joe McNally, Moose Peterson……to be continued…..
